Thursday's Trend Alert: The Candy Buffet

Candy buffets are becoming a very common wedding trend. I love the idea because it brings out an inner-child-love for candy! It's also a nice treat for your guests. While we won't be having a candy buffet at our wedding, we did have one at our engagement party!

Making a candy buffet is really simple! Here are some tips:
1. Find Unique Containers. My mom got the containers at Michaels. They have a really great assortment of martini glasses, margarita glasses, apothecary jars, and low bowls. You can also find the containers online or at most craft stores. There are a lot to choose from!
2. Choose Your Candy. Most people try and personalize their candy selections. One idea is to choose candy that matches the colors of your wedding. For our candy bar, we asked the special people in our lives what their favorite childhood candy was and included that candy in the buffet. We also included Blake and I's favorite candy!

3. Order The Candy. I found it really easy to order the candy in bulk online from Candy Warehouse. They had almost every candy you can imagine, and all the candy came in large quantities.
4. Decorate The Table. We personalized the table with flower petals and pictures. For the center of the candy bar I had a photo card printed that said "Sweeter Than Candy." You can also get personalized signs printed from various Etsy designers.

This is a great do-it-yourself project that can really put a personal touch on any party. Make sure to order enough candy for your guests though! For the 100 people at our engagement party, we bought 5 pounds of each candy. There were still bags of candy left over the next day, so we probably could have gotten by with less. But it's better to be safe than sorry!

My best friend got married two weeks ago, and she had a candy buffet. They are so colorful and fun!

Another tip: Keep your candy-loving MOHs away from the candy before the party. They can severely deplete the candy supply.

I've already decided we are having a candy buffet. We're doing away with tacky gifts for guests that usually get thrown away anyway and going with the candy buffet and a photo booth-they get to keep one set of the photos to take home and the other goes into a guest book for us!
