A Small Town Weekend!

This past weekend Blake planned a trip for us. It was a surprise to me until we got into the car! I had some inkling of where we going- Blake knows I love exploring new places, especially small southern towns, and staying at bed and breakfasts.  After following his packing guidelines exactly and preparing a small basket of essentials (water, puppychow, wine), I was all ready to go!
We got in the car and headed to Corinth, Mississippi. My small town prediction was right! I found out we were staying at an antebellum bed and breakfast called the Generals Quarters.
When we got to Corinth, we ate at a local place called the Dinner Bell, known for its country cooking. We met the owners, who obviously could tell that we were visitors, and they directed us towards some fun night activities. That Friday night in Corinth there was a fair and a festival called Hog Wild. First, we played some fair games.
And then we headed to Hog Wild for some drinks and dancing.
Saturday morning we went to Green Market, a local artisan festival. It was really neat to walk around and see all the unique pieces. After looking at several things, the only thing we ended up getting was a box of BBQ treats for Penny!
After the market, we walked around an explored Cornith. There were tons of boutiques and home goods shops.

Later in the afternoon we left for our next destination, another small town called Tuscumbia, Alabama. By the time we got there it was time for dinner. Blake had a reservation at a place called the Rattlesnake Saloon. The saloon was under a cave, and it truly was a unique experience. It becomes quite the popular dancing spot on Saturday night. There was a great band and the food was good too! The fried green beans were so yummy!
Sunday morning, we woke up early and started driving up the Natchez Trace Parkway {a beautiful scenic parkway} towards Nashville. We made several stops along the way.
When we got home I gave Penny her souvenir. A lot of you were asking what kind of dog Penny is- she is a Mini Goldendoodle! We highly recommend the breed- she's great!
It was a great weekend. I could not ask for a better fiance or best friend :)
